Cross Reference Explained: Rexroth and Parker Valves
We receive regular queries about interchanging and intermixing of parts. You often ask if you can use a component of Parker Hannifin in Bosch Rexroth hydraulic system and vice versa. While we mentioned in our article on directional control valves that Boschâs R900561282 and Parkerâs D1VW008CNJW are interchangeable, it cannot be extrapolated to include all products of Parker and Bosch. Different parts may be made with different standards and there can be a mismatch of dimensions.
It is, therefore, important to understand what is meant by interchange and intermix, what makes R900561282 and D1VW008CNJW interchangeable, and how to check interchangeability of two parts.
Intermix-Interchange
While it is generally recommended to opt for products of the original manufacturer during repairs, unavailability or longer lead times often force the consumer to look elsewhere. Depending upon the problem, it can lead to interchange or intermix of components.
Interchange
If the entire component in a hydraulic system is replaced by a competitive component of another manufacturer, it is called an interchange of parts.
Intermix
If the entire component is not replaced rather only faulty parts are replaced by similar parts manufactured by a competitive brand, it is called intermixing.
Though subject to technical similarity, an interchange is usually acceptable [1]. Intermixing, on the other hand, is strongly discouraged by most brands. Some brands go as far as to consider it an appropriate basis to nullify the warranty.
WE6 and DIVW: A comparison
WE6 is a series of directional spool valves of Bosch Rexroth, whereas D1VW is a series of the same by Parker Hannifin. The comparison of technical specifications and standards can be seen below.

From the comparison, it can be seen that two parts are almost identical. Par the hydraulic fluid cleanliness, there is no mismatch between the values or standards. Therefore, R900561282 and D1VW008CNJW can be used interchangeably if proper care regarding contamination is taken. It should, however, be noted that R900561282 has a higher value of permissible contamination, so it will always replace D1VW008CNJW without any problem. On the other hand, D1VW will require better cleaning standards to work seamlessly.
Parker Cross Reference & Competitor Interchange
While the comparison of standards and technical specifications should be enough, any negligence or mismanagement while performing the comparison can lead to premature failure of the equipment and, at worst, accidents. Therefore, it is recommended to find additional sources for validation whenever possible.
In the case of D1VW and WE6, Parkerâs own cross reference tool can be used. When âR900561282â is searched, it returns âD1VW008CNJWâ in the results with a green tick in fit. The green tick means âability of the part or feature to connect to, mate with, or join to another feature or part within an assemblyâ. Additionally, there are no objections to this cross reference in the comments. Therefore, the two parts can be considered interchangeable according to Parkerâs cross reference tool too.
